2018 AUTUMN - WINTER COLLECTION

2018年AWで2 シーズン目に突入した、BLUE BLUEとJ.PRESSのコラボレートコレクション。2 つのブランドが融合する部分として、核となる〈1967〉年のキーワードがある。聖林公司代表のゲン垂水氏が、「ぶらじる丸」でカリフォルニア・ロングビーチへの旅に歩を進め出港した年。同じくその年号J.PRESSが保有する〈1967〉年の貴重なブローシャーを基軸にデザインが施され、当時のアメリカ的な古き良きディテールを踏襲しつつ、伝統のファブリックや製法で今シーズンも質実剛健なウエアが展開される。今季はLOVAT社とJ.PRESSが共同開発したオリジナルファブリック〈LAVEROCK TWEED -ラブロックツイード-〉採用の3 ピースも新たに登場。更に、ダブルネームのロゴが配されたタイバーとピンバッチ、ピン留め刺繍エンブレムのアクセサリー類にも要注目。1902年に創業したJ.PRESSが、世紀を跨いで116年もの間生き抜いてきた伝統のウエアは、各時代のスタイルアイコンにも愛され共に進化してきた。動乱の
時代を歩んだジョン・F・ケネディ、ビル・クリントンなど、政界の重鎮にも愛された。ロバート・レッドフォードは映画の衣装に迷わず選んだ。“トラディショナル”なスタイルは、一見堅苦しいものに見えるかもしれないが、英米のジェントルマン達が積み上げてきた“ルール”は学ぶほどに深く楽しめる事柄ばかりだ。制約や決まり事のないスタイルには美は宿らず、“ルール”を学びその制約の中で自らの着こなしを体現できる紳士のスタイルこそが年月を越えて愛されるのだ。

With this 2018 autumn/winter collection, the BLUE BLUE and J.PRESS collaboration celebrates its second season. This two-brand fusion pays homage to 1967, the year Mr. Gen Tarumi, the president of SEILIN & CO., set sail on the Brazil Maru for Long Beach, California. A rare copy of a brochure issued in that year and kept in the J.PRESS archives forms the foundation of the designs in the collection. With the emphasis on the good old American detail found in those days, and with traditional fabrics and manufacturing processes, this seasonal collection promotes simple and sturdy clothing wear. J.PRESS founded in 1902 has survived 116 years, comfortably straddling two centuries; its traditional wear
much-loved by the style icons of each era has evolved hand-in-hand with them. J.PRESS was also loved by such prominent politicians as John F. Kennedy, who lived in a time of major upheavals, and the renowned Bill Clinton. Award winning actor Robert Redford never hesitated to choose J.PRESS for his movie wardrobes. The “traditional” style may look stiff and formal at first sight, but the “rules” accumulated by generations of British and American gentlemen provide enjoyable guidelines as you keep learning how to work within them. If a style has no restrictions or rules to provide structure, then no beauty can be formed, and exactly the same applies to a gentlemen’s style; after first learning the “rules” and working within such restrictions, you give form to your own way of dressing and create your own timeless style.
